Avrah Grace Vargas

Dear Avrah,
Princess, Baby Girl, Sister. You are one of a kind. I always wanted two girls, but I am so glad that there is just the one you. You are so sweet and helpful. Even surrounded by boys you still find a way to be a girly girl. I hope you enjoy growing up the only girl in the family. I never considered myself  very feminine, luckily you have enough femininity for the both of us. You love to dress up in your princess dresses, and shoes. You love to have your nails painted. I'm pretty sure you can't wait for the day you can wear makeup.
You are such a joy, everyone that knows you loves you immediately. Dad says you are too pretty for your own good, and I agree. I almost feel sorry for the boy that falls in love with you, he won't have it easy.  I hope that you can keep your gentle loving spirit. I know you will have to be tough with four brothers, but hopefully they will also protect you. I can't wait to see what your future holds, you are good at so many things, especially getting what you want. Let's just hope that what you want is worth getting. Love you Baby Girl,
Momma

Dull Day?

This was a laid back Tuesday, Judah and Josiah and Avrah went to school, the babies nap,  Did the 30 min Shred with Jillian and Victoria, played on the computer the babies got up and ate lunch, we went and got Avrah came home put her and the babies down for their nap, played on the computer and then the big boys got home, helped Judah with his homework, made dinner, fed dinner to kids. Played with kids, watched a show with the big boys, put them all to bed, then cleaned up the house, swept the house, steamed the floor, folded babies and Avrah's laundry and am now watching biggest loser. Tomorrow is the last day of September and the last day of my 30 day blog experiment. I've had fun writing them, hope you have had fun reading them. Tomorrow will be my letter to Avrah, since if you have been paying attention she is the only one that hasn't got one yet. Usually do those on Thursdays, but I messed up on that one (5 kids, 4 Thursdays.)

park play date

This morning Avrah woke up with a swollen eye. There was no crust or blood shot, just swollen.

Took Avrah to school and then had a twins play date at a park. It was a nice enclosed park with some big equipment and some small stuff for the little guys. We had a lot of fun. Julie and Darla came with their twins, they both have boy/boy. I didn't get any pictures of Julie and her adorable little guys, but I did get some of Darla and Ayden and Ashton

Hosea on the slide.

Micah at the top

Darla with Ashton and Ayden

Under one of the play things, they had a great time just sitting under there talking and throwing rocks..check out the hair from the static.

Lock up your daughters

Good day today.
We went to church, went and checked out the new wal-mart, went to Tim's house for family lunch.
We got the babies new onsies that say "lock up your daughters" and they had on little plaid shorts that were a size 0-3 months so they fit them in the waist but were a bit short, compared to what they normally use, and they were wearing there chuck taylor tennis shoes, so as my brother pointed out, they looked straight out of the 70's.

After naps we went to Babies r us to look at car seats, and mom bought the babies new big boy car seats (this was their birthday present). These are the ones we picked out. http://s7d5.scene7.com/s7ondemand/zoom/flasht_zoom.jsp?&company=ToysRUsGSI&config=defaultZoom&zoomwidth=500&zoomheight=558&sku=p5837230

Then we went by moms to show her them, and then we went by what-a-burger for dinner. While we were eating, Josiah was reading the fry bag and he said "this is funny, it says "there is one nerd, you." "  we were like what a funny thing to put on the fry bag so I checked it and it said "there is one near you" this made much more sense, but it would have been funnier if it said what he thought it did.

We got a new shower curtain liner today, I love the way they smell. Jeremy makes fun of me, I don't care I love it.

Garage Sale and MiniLaps

This morning started wayyy too early for me. I woke up at 2:30 for no reason, and then could not sleep. I finally had to get up at 5:45 to make it to my 6:30 shift at the TMOMs Garage Sale. The garage sale went great. I sold a LOT of my stuff, not all of it, that's ok I'll save it for the one in the spring. If you didn't make it to this sale, you missed out! My mom and I went  shopping last night (members night) and we found lots of good deals, the babies now have a winter wardrobe, and I got some sweaters and mom found some clothes for herself also. Oh and we got the babies their halloween costumes..

my van loaded up with all the stuff.

sneek peek of the costumes (can you guess what they are going to be..besides cute)

My shift ended at 9:30 and from there I went home collected the family and then went out to the Little Light House where they were doing a thing called the mini-laps. TLLH is not government funded but is funded by donations only, this is a free school for children with disabilities, it is such an awesome program, all the things they do for and with those kids. This is one of their fundraisers, each kid (family) is supposed to raise a certain amount of money. This years mini laps theme was "It's a small world" and each child was dressed up as someone from somewhere else, then they have "floats" that they decorated to go with whatever they are dressed as. Some of their floats where their walkers or wheelchairs or wagons or bikes, or whatever they had. It was so amazing to see these kids and all the accomplishments that they have achieved in their short lives. Each child went around this little circle with a teacher and the emcee's would talk about that child and what they where learning and why they were there and how special each one was. Let me just tell you I am glad I was wearing my sunglasses because as each little guy/gal crossed that finish line my eyes would just well up with tears. My nephew Solomon was dressed up as a little jewish guy he is sooo cute.
If you ever have the opportunity or want to volunteer somewhere the little light house is totally worth looking into. Also if you are looking to donate your money somewhere please look into it.
Here is their facebook page where you can see all of the children from today.

Josiah Israel Vargas

Dear Josiah,
You amaze me. You always have. You have always been determined to be yourself. You would not fit into any mold or preconceived notions that anyone held for you. You are you. Right from the beginning you didn't do things as planned, you decided to come late, and then be bigger then the dr.'s said. Oh, they said you would be a small baby about 6-7lbs. Man they were wrong mr. 8lbs 14oz. . Then instead of being a calm good natured smiley baby you were very serious, now maybe that wasn't all your fault, maybe it had to do with me being down because daddy was gone, but I think maybe you weren't really serious, you were just trying to figure things out. You saw Judah going all over the place and you wanted to also. You really weren't happy until you were able to get around. At 5 months of age you were crawling, up on all fours crawling, then you were walking at 8 months and climbing too. There was no stopping you. If you wanted in (or out of)  something badly enough you just didn't stop till you were there. The rate at which you learn is shocking and still after 6 (well almost) years you still are doing things that amaze me.
My love for you is different than the others. You were not the easiest baby, nor are you the easiest child, but through all this adversity has grown a love that is so strong. Some days are very trying with you. Some are very pleasant. I wouldn't trade you for anyone else. I'm glad I had YOU when I did.
You are going to be great at whatever it is that you decide to do, whether it be an architect, a chef or a plumber you will be the best one you can be. You don't know how to be anything less then your best. You keep being you, and I will keep you safe from the beavers and the stickers. I love you little man.

Kid quotes and Gi's

some kid quotes:
Judah to Avrah from the bedroom "You aren't old enough to know what Karma is."
Josiah to Judah as we pass the cemetery on the way to Jiu Jitsu, "That is where people go to die."
Judah correcting Josiah "No, they don't go there to die, they go there after they die."
Avrah in her best robot voice, frequently throughout the day "I AM A ROBOT"

Today the big boys got their gi's, after we got home and ate and showered, they tried them on, and that got them in a wrestling/fighting mood, so they had to show us everything they had been learning at class. They are doing so good at it, it is nice to see them fight in that way a very polite controlled manner. Their pushups have much improved. Also thank you Summer for working Jeremy out so hard that now he can't move :)..

Bikes, Balls and You

This morning I took the twins to a play group called "Bikes, Balls and You".  It was at one of the city parks, inside the gym, it was $.50 per kid, which is a good deal for an hour or so of play time for the boys. They had such a good time running around and playing with balls and other peoples bikes and push toys. Three of my other twin moms were there and one other set with their nanny, so 5 sets of twins and a bunch of other people with their singletons. I guess it is something they do every Tuesday and Thursday morning. It is definitely something we will be doing again.

Still getting stuff ready for the garage sale. I'm so ready for it to be over and done with.

Here are some pictures of the babies playing today.

Fighting over what?

Busy day today! I'm not real sure what I did but man it doesn't seem like I did much around the house, but I was busy.
I wanted to try something new today, instead of keeping the babies up till 2, I planned on putting them down for a short nap when I got back from taking Avrah, around 10:30, and then waking them around 12 feeding them lunch playing, going to get Avrah at 2 and then putting them down when we get back. So that is what I did, except I let them sleep a little longer then 12. This worked today also because they woke up earlier then they have been, around 7:15. It worked really well today, we'll see how it goes tomorrow. Today during lunch I had fixed them some pb&j sandwiches with some grapes, and they finished their food and I went in the kitchen to make them more, on a good day they will each eat a whole pb&j and lots of grapes, but I always start them off with just half and then make more if they eat it all, so I was in the kitchen making them some more, then I hear the "fighting screams", I wondered what in the world could they be fighting over in their highchairs? I came back in the room and found this.

Micah had climbed out of his highchair and over to brothers and was stealing what was left of his sandwich! This is why we have 5 point harnesses on their highchairs. This is what happens when I forget to buckle them in.

Also thought I was done tagging baby stuff for the garage sale, but no, I found 2 more boxes of baby boy clothes! This will be a busy week.

Chicken and Waffles

As many of you know I do not eat pork, and most of my family doesn't either. Today for lunch we had pizza, some of it was pepperoni, and that is the kind that Judah asked for. Hours later he comes in the room and he says "Mom, I didn't eat pork, why does my stomach hurt?" and I said "you did have pork, you had pepperoni pizza today" , he somehow thought it was turkey and not pork. Anyway later on at dinner he says to me "Mom, that pork was uncalled for." and I said "You asked for it son." that was the conversation. I thought it was very funny, and kind of surreal.
Went to Wal-mart this afternoon with the family, we hadn't been shopping in a while so we needed lots of stuff. This was one of the craziest trips we have had with them all. The babies were fussy the big kids were rowdy. It was just a  mess. I guess, as Jeremy said, at least we provided lots of comic relief for the other Wal-mart shoppers.
I got the front yard cut, hopefully I can do the back yard tomorrow. Anyone know if there is rain in the forecast?

Happy 6th Anniversary to my Aunt Paula and Uncle Gary.

Garage Sales Galore

Garage Sales GaloreToday started really early. It was the annual Wolf Creek Garage Sale. We left our house on foot with all the kids at 7:45 this morning. We walked all over the place and we found some really great deals, some that we were able to take advantage of and some we missed out on. Our finds today were as follows: some Disney videos($1), an air popcorn popper($1), two chairs($3 each), a hammock($5) (this is actually for Tim's house), a weed eater($5), a leaf blower($5), two waffle/penini makers($3&$6), a playstation with loads of games($5) some sort of stereo ($?). Lots of exercise and lots of fun. OH and not a single drop of rain all day. Take that weather man!

Can't wait till the TMOMs garage sale! I woke up in the middle of the night last night thinking that today was the TMOMs sale, and I felt terrible because I missed my Friday night shift I was supposed to work, and I didn't take all my stuff up there. It was a horrible feeling, but I was very relieved when I realized that it isn't till next weekend. I really was freaking out!

My mom and Walter are back from their vacation, I can't wait to hear all about it! I miss them when they are gone.

Things I need to do tomorrow:

Make a menu
Make a grocery list
Go shopping
Go to church
Mow the yard
Fix the fence..oh wait that's not supposed to be on my list..

Vendredi

Today was a very non interesting day. I knew it would be a long one because first of all the kids were out of school for some kind of "professional day" and then Jeremy has class on Fridays he goes around 6 ( I think) and gets out around 1030. Everybody seemed to be busy doing there own thing today so we just hung out at home and had a lazy day. I played on the computer and listened to my book, and the kids played and watched tv. It looked like a lovely day to let the kids play outside, however since all the rain I have a HUGE mud puddle in the back yard, and if I was the kind of mom that deals with messes better I would have let the kids have a mud fight, but I'm not and we have two wasp nests in our back yard, (one on the underside of one of the swings) so I am keeping the kids inside until those are taken care of.

Josiah asked me tonight if Bee's were bad, and I went into this long schpeal about how they aren't bad and how we need them to pollinate the flowers and things like this and even though they may sting us they usually leave us alone if we leave them alone, etc.. and then Judah says to me, "no mom the letter grade B". Haha

Tomorrow is the Wolf Creek Neighborhood Garage Sale, it is one of the biggest and longest running, and it is a lot of fun, if you don't have to navigate your car through the neighborhoods on that day. We will not be having a garage sale but we will be garage saleing, oh except that we are supposed to have isolated thunderstorms all morning, hopefully this does not keep people from having their sales.

Hosea Daniel Vargas

Dear Hosea,
From the first time I saw you, I loved you. I can't believe I almost lost you before I even got to hold you in my arms. I am so grateful that I have you, that I get to know you.  The first time you smiled at me in your sleep and showed me your dimples, I knew that you would have my heart forever. You are my momma's boy, Even though you are the "big" brother, you are a little bit more reserved then brother. You usually aren't the first one to do something but you won't be left behind either, you want to be right in there with brother. You are my talker, true I don't understand you yet, but that doesn't stop you from coming right up and saying what you want to say. I love you more then words can express. I love the way you laugh, I love the way you smile. I can't wait to see you grow up and become who you are going to be.

Wendesday

Today was a good day. The older kids went to school, and I got to hang out with the babies. I also got a lot of my stuff ready for the TMOMs (Tulsa Mothers of Multiples) Garage Sale. This is my third tmoms garage sale to attend, second one to work, and first one to sell at. I am excited! I started getting my stuff together to sell in the middle of August. (The sale is Sept 26th.) I did good for about a week, then stopped and then realized yesterday that there is less then two weeks so I have to really get on it. Anyway the babies were trying to "help" me by scattering the hangers all over the living room and fighting with them.  I decided to take them for a walk, it was nice a cool out, it looked like it was going to rain any minute, but it didn't. I walked for about an hour. Hosea fell asleep and stayed asleep for a bit at home, and then we went to go get Avrah.

Later I got to go out to dinner with my dear friend Bethany. I love Bethany, she is awesome, very real, smart, funny, sweet, authentic. Just awesome. I also got to see my old dog Rufus, he is doing so good, he turns 10 this fall, but he danced around and whined when he saw me just like he did when he was a puppy, such a good dog.

Here is some info on the Garage Sale if you are interested.

Tuesday

Tuesday.
Today, what did I do today? I woke up earlier than usual by Jeremy's phone ringing. Jeremy wasn't here, he had left his phone. So I got a early start to my day. The babies have been sleeping in till 9. This has been really nice, except that Avrah goes to school at 9:30 which means I need to leave here between 9:15-9:20. This gives me about 15 minutes to feed, change, and dress two babies. Usually they just get fed and diaper changes, and we go to school in their Pajamas. Avrah and the big boys usually wake up around 7:30, and the big boys leave to go to school at 8:30, so that gives me about an hour and a half to get Avrah fed and dressed and hair done, and her lunch fixed. Oh and myself dressed and ready before the babies wake up. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays mornings are a little crazy around my house, until 9:45 that is. Now I just have to figure out how to keep the babies busy until time to pick up Avrah at 2:00. Today I did get a lot of stuff done today, so that was good. Tonight Jeremy had class so it was just me and the kids. The babies were singing and playing on the wii drums it was very cute. I wish I could have got it on video. So that was my pretty dull Tuesday. Hopefully I'll have something better to write about tomorrow.

Monday monday...

Happy Monday!
The beginning of another week. A new chance to be better. What did I do today? It's Monday so I did laundry, of course. I took the babies to a story time at the library, they really like it. Well they like running away from me in different directions. My friend Darla was there with her babies (twin boys) too. I think other moms in the group get a kick out of seeing more then one set of twins.  There has been a TMOM (Tulsa Mothers of Multiples) play date at the library story time and I think we had 4 or 5 moms with their twins. There is this one song that they sing and they get this little felt teddy bear and the song goes "Throw your teddy bear, and catch. Turn around turn around jump jump jump." and then it says to put the teddy bear different places like on your elbow and your finger and your toe and your back and then put him on your head and walk around the room. I think it may be the boys favorite that they sing, they don't really get the catch part but they love throwing the little teddy bears and also putting them on their heads. Usually only one boy gets the teddy bear in the right places because it is hard for me to get it on both of them, but today they were being kind of wild running out the door so I put them in their stroller and they calmed right down so we did the teddy bear song sitting, not quite as fun, but they still liked throwing the bears on the ground.

I got some books for the big boys. It seems like all the books we own are a little to young for Judah. I guess he needs older books.

I found out today that one of the people from this season's "The Biggest Loser" (starts Tuesday Sept 15th) is a parent from the boys' school. I don't know them but still that is pretty cool.

Off to fold some more laundry. Hope you had a great Monday too.

Happy Birthday Solo!

Today I spent the day celebrating my little nephew's 2nd birthday. For those of you who don't know Solomon is a miracle. I know all babies are miracles, but Solomon was born with Down Syndrome, and he has beat so many odds. He had open heart surgery at 4 months old, and in his short life so far has had over 5 surgeries. Does any of this slow him down? No Way! This year he gets to go to The little Light House. For those of you who don't know, this is a great program it is a free school for kids with disabilaties and is not funded by the government but by donations. I've posted about it before. Solomon is awesome and this school is going to do so much for him.

Happy Birthday Solomon Jordon Siegel!

Good Mom/Bad Mom

What is it that makes a "good mom"? Is it something that you do? Something that you don't do? Everybody probably has their own opinion on what makes a mom "good".  I have come to the conclusion that everyone is different with their kids around other people than they are when they are alone with their kids. Personally (and I know I'm not alone in this) I feel like a better mom when I'm out in public, my kids are fairly well behaved and I don't yell at them (as much). I guess what I'm trying to say is that we as moms want to compare ourselves among ourselves and say to ourselves "so-n-so is such a good mom, I wish I was more like her" or "she does things this way I wish I could do things that way", but maybe she is looking at you going "wow she is so this or that or the other thing" .  Another thing is that when you are feeling down on yourself or a friend is, you always want to comfort her and be like "no you are a good mom", but really how do we know what kind of mom she really is, because like I said earlier, she probably is different when she is alone with her kids. I know when I feel like I am not the greatest mom, then I need to change something I'm doing; be better. I am not beating myself up over it, I'm not looking for "Oh Martha you're such a good mom". I don't think I am a "bad" mom. I do think that I am not being the best mom I can be. As a mom we want our kids to be the best they can be, they don't have to be the best soccer player, baseball player, singer, etc... but as long as they are trying their hardest and doing their best that is all we ask from them. Is that what I give them? Do I give them my best. No I do not, I can do better, I can be better. I will be better. As soon as I figure out how. I think that most moms have a problem taking "me time" I do not have this problem, I get plenty of this. I need to have more "them time", play with them more, do crafts with them more, take time to do the things that they want to do, with them. And no, going over Judah's spelling, vocab and whatever test he is studying for that week does not count as quality time with him. This week I am going to play with Avrah and the babies more, turn the tv and the computers off and really spend time with them. What can you do this week to be a better?

Blah-day

I had a really good topic for my blog tonight, but I am tired and sleep has been elusive. Not to worry the topic will save and I will try to do it tomorrow.

Today was pretty dull until this evening. I didn't do much of anything today, but then the boys got home from school and I took them to Triton and I decided that after all the struggle with the 3 little ones on Wed, that I would see if I could just drop them off and then pick them up without having to have everyone get out and go in and then load everyone back up. See I usually don't mind, but here is what happened on Wednesday. The babies are a handful when you carry them, once they get used to a new place they want down and they want to explore, however they are usually very content to sit in their stroller and watch and "talk" to each other about what they see. Avrah is distracted into sitting still easily enough I just give her my phone to play games on. Here is the problem, Triton now (they are moving..soon hopefully) is a pretty small place, now where they work out and practice is big, but the non-mat part where you watch from is very small and also the doorway to get in is double doors, which my side by side stroller usually has no problems fitting into a single door, but these must be old because with only one open my stroller does NOT fit, so the second door (one of those that locks into the door frame and the floor..) has to be opened and then I have to get in and then once in there is the matter of finding somewhere where I am not in the way..this is not possible. I tried to get us out of the way as much as possible on Wednesday but everyone still had to walk around us and in doing so had to step on the mat (which you can't step on with your shoes on and also you have to bow when you step on it) you can see the inconvenience I was causing. That being said dropping them at the door and picking them up seems like a very good idea. Also I figure if you are old enough to make it walking to and from school every day they should be able to make it the couple of feet to the door by themselves, and once they are in there are plenty of instructors to keep them straight.  Anyway after I dropped them off I went by my  mom's house and stayed there until it was time to go get the boys. Then we went to CiCi's pizza with my Friend Ryan and her two kids. We don't get to have pizza very often, even though it is one of Jeremy's favorites, since discovering he has a lactose intolerance, I try and have it only when he isn't going to be around. Oh yeah he started classes this week, YEA! This semester he will be going to ITT Tech (I think) and his classes will be on Tuesdays and Fridays. Anyway after CiCi's we went over to Ryan's where we were trying to watch a movie while the kids played, two hours later and only 45 min into a 2 hour movie, we decided to call it quits, so now I am home all the kids are in bed and I am going to finish the movie.

Judah Gabriel Vargas

Dear Judah,
My Firstborn. You are the most amazing kid I know. You are such a people person, your heart is so big. You have never met a stranger. You will tell your life story to anyone that will sit still long enough to listen to you. I often wonder what kind of kid you would be if you didn't have so many siblings or if you were an only child. Would you be as kind, as tenderhearted, as loving, as patient. I think maybe not. I wish I had more you and me time, I wish I could give you all the attention that you crave. I'm sorry I am so hard on you. I know it isn't fair, but I do expect more from you, because you are the oldest.

As I go over your homework with you and help you study for all your tests I am proud of you.
I see the way you play with your baby brothers and I am proud of you.
I hear your determination when you say "Mom even though class (Jiu Jitsu) is hard, I'm not going to quit, 'cause I'm not a quitter" and I am proud of you
Tonight I saw you comfort a sad and crying friend, and I am proud of you.

I hope you know how much you mean to me, and how sad and vacant my life would be without you in it. I wouldn't trade you for anything or anyone else.
I love you Kiddo,
Mom

Second Child

Today Josiah brought home a paper from school and it was one of those draw a picture of yourself and tell about yourself papers. It said this " Josiah likes chocolate, tomatoes, cherries, and strawberries but does not like stickers or beavers." Beavers? What did Beaver's ever do to him..and Stickers? I guess everyone has to have something they don't like, but those just seem a little random, even for Josiah.

Judah and Josiah are now taking Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu I went with them tonight and watched them, the instructors are so good with the kids, they are so strict but very respectful to the kids. There was an older kid (maybe 13-15) that was there who they called up in front of the class to brag about him. He has a neighbor that is elderly and he helps him out with his lawn care and other things around the house. I just thought that was really neat that there are still youth out there that without being asked still do things like this.
Here is a picture I took. They were practicing positions
Josiah is in the orange shirt, Judah is in black this position is called "mount position" I think.
Josiah has also been getting notes sent home about him talking in class when he isn't supposed too. I think his Jui Jitsu class has the answer to that. Pushups!

Avrah's first day of School

Today was Avrah's first day of school. She is going to Bethany Learning Center again this year. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesdays, 930-2. I had planned on getting a lot done today, but didn't. I guess I was enjoying the peace and quiet too much, because nothing got done.

On the way home from school, she was in her seat singing a song that I think she probably made up, she had hand motions and everything, but it was like it was a real song that she had forgotten the words to so she made up her own, it was very cute.
Notice Hosea in the background checking out the toys.
Today is also my Sister Anna's Birthday!  Happy Birthday shout out to Anna! The best big sister ever!
